...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...

Nearshore and open waters of Lake Michigan from Sturgeon Bay to
Sheboygan...

At 1222 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 7 nm east of Algoma to 7 nm east
of Cleveland to near Cedar Grove to near Fox Point, moving northeast
at 45 knots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.

Sleeping Bear Point to Grand Traverse Light MI...

At 107 AM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 nm west of Naubinway to 9 nm northwest of Big Rock
Point to Portage Lake, moving northeast at 40 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
         suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
Waugoshance Point, South Fox Island, Good Hart, Northport, Empire,
Glen Arbor, Point Betsie, Epoufette, Portage Lake, North Manitou
Island, Sturgeon Bay, Norwood, Naubinway, Harbor Springs, Cross
Village, Point Aux Chenes, Williamsport, Brevort, South Manitou
Island, and Cat Head Point.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.

At 1253 AM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Point Patterson to Grand Traverse Light to 11 nm
east of Pierport, moving northeast at 45 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
         suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
Old Mission Lighthouse, Suttons Bay, Elk Rapids, Traverse City, and
Northport.
